Hydrangeas in the house

Hydrangeas in the house

I'm not the best floral arranger (no, it doesn't come with the gay gene) but I couldn't wait to cut some Hydrangeas from the garden. I'm a little obsessed with my garden now. Just bought some lavender and more Clematis for the fence.

The paperwork never stops. You can put it off for only so long. When the pile gets soft enough for Jakob to nap on it on a regular basis, it's time to put down the magazine and get to it.

Stop at Bryant Park

Stop at Bryant Park

Tom and Pinky frequently fly in for these Broadway extravaganzas and stay with me. Lani will sometimes join us from Duchess County NY. Agenda usually includes a show or two (or three), gorging on food, and some shopping on the side. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.

In 80 degree weather, people fall in line at this West Village bakery to buy cupcakes at 8 pm. For those who've seen the movie Prime, this is where the guy buys those pies he throws at the girls who've wronged him.

Shakespeare Tickets

Thanks to my friend Kelly's friend, we were able to score tickets to Shakespeare in the Park that featured Macbeth this year. It was a stunning production with Liev Shriber in the lead role. Getting these free tickets normally means falling in line at 7 am at the box office that opens at 1 pm on the day of the show. Thanks to Kelly, we got to sleep in.

Oliver and Mugsy

I was lucky enough to get Mugsy at 3 years old from Frank across the street. Frank is guardian to Oliver who is Mugsy's littermate. The two brothers ran into each other this morning during their morning walk. That's the Mugster on the right.

Jen Fu said he wanted to see how many people could stand on one of the concrete poles at the mall made to keep cars from ramming into the entrance (apparently an anti-terrorist structure for any self-respecting mall). So of course we obliged.......(Thanks Fu for the pic)

Meeting

POD-060614
Originally uploaded by JenFu.
We had our Peak Potential planning meeting last night and Jen Fu took this picture of me with my laptop and Palm Pilot planning away. I sometimes feel like the bad cop in this group of easy going guys but I try to make myself feel better by thinking I am the yin to their yang (or the other way around). Plus I just like organizing things anyway. Hope Fu doesn't mind me using his photo on this blog

Pet Evidence

A movie industry exec was being interviewed on NPR and he had shared this insight:"It's unfortunate that when he hear the word 'success', we automatically think of money. When we say someone is successful, the first thing that comes to our mind is how much money he makes. We never think about how long he's been married to his wife, how he relates to his children, if he has any good friends....." Well, every Thursday, I get to volunteer with Peak Potential and work with children with disabilities. Aside from the more obvious reason, I do it for the selfish reason that I get to hang-out with an incredible group of people whom I am fortunate to call my friends. I guess you could this part of my life a success story..

Last year I planted a bunch of perrenials (meaning plants that come back every year) in the front of our yard. Though this is a condo, our fees don't cover a landscaping service so it's pretty much whoever wants to do yard work does it. After 5 years of neglect, I finally took matters into my own hands. All of my plants came back this year , including this Clematis with purple flowers. One night, as I was having a late night snack of chocolate and researching online about my plants, I wondered when exactly did I turn into Papa.........
